A Little Splash of Color

I love finding fun pops of color in day to day life. Here's a quick post about some delightful pleasing spring color combos that I've found as of late. Last night, two of my friends hosted a girl's night and the drink of choice was the sweet and fruity "American Beauty" a gin drink made with only 6 ingredients. Here's the recipe taken from

2 oz Bluecoat Gin
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
3 Fresh Raspberry and 3 Fresh Blueberries
4-6 Mint Leave

Add lemon juice, mint and berries into mixing glass and lightly muddle.   Add the remaining ingredients into mixing glass along with ice and shake vigorously.   Fine-strain over the rocks into a double old-fashioned glass and top with a splash of soda. Garnish with lemon wheel and one raspberry.

*To make simple syrup combine one part hot water to one part sugar.  Stir until all sugar is dissolved and allow to cool.

The result? This beautiful drink that reminds me of a grown up pink lemonade and was a treat for my eyes as well as taste buds!

On another note, remember that cute little glass jar vase from an earlier post? Well, Brendan filled it with some beautiful wildflowers that he picked on our last walk. His inspiring floral design convinces me that he could be a florist if he wanted to be :)
Some of these flowers were so tiny, we would have never noticed them if we weren't looking for them. The wildflowers in Louisiana are truly remarkable, and it was kind of like a little treasure hunt finding these. We also fed an army of ducks some leftover was pretty funny, they came from all over the pond! Anyway, just wanted to share some pretty pictures.

Here's to color. I'm so glad for it.
